Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS Link: What We Know Ahead of the December 2026 Target

The Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System Link is targeted to commence passenger service by December 2026. The cross-border line will connect Woodlands North in Singapore with Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru.

The train journey itself is expected to take about five minutes

Singapore's Ministry of Transport says the rail journey between the two stations will take about five minutes once the service opens.

Immigration is designed to happen only at departure

The project includes co-located Customs, Immigration and Quarantine facilities at both stations. The intention is for passengers to complete both countries' immigration checks at the point of departure rather than repeat the process after crossing.

Fares have not been announced yet

As of the Ministry of Transport's April 2026 parliamentary reply, fares are to be determined commercially by the operator and announced in due course. Any fare figure circulating before an official announcement should therefore be treated cautiously.

Why this matters for weekend travel

A direct rail connection from the Thomson-East Coast Line at Woodlands North could materially change short trips to Johor Bahru, particularly when the Causeway is congested. The practical value will still depend on final fares, operating hours, immigration capacity and onward transport from Bukit Chagar.
